A UTR (unique taxpayer reference) is a 10 digit number used to identify UK taxpayers who have to submit a tax return. The number is made up of 10 digits, with the first digit being a checksum.
This identifier follows a strict format, here represented as X = alphanumeric character, A = letter, 0 = digit, and # = alphanumeric or special character (*, +, ?).
