Austrian VAT number / Umsatzsteuer-Identifikationsnummer
The Austrian UID (Umsatzsteuer-Identifikationsnummer, VAT identification number) is a unique identification number for legal entities in Austria. The number consists of 11 characters, the first two being "AT", the next character being "U", and the remaining 8 being digits. The last digit is a check digit calculated using the Luhn algorithm.
Although this identifier can be verified against official registries, not all entities are included in the linked sources. As a result, some valid identifiers may not be found during registry checks. We'll flag these as valid but not verified.
This identifier follows a strict format, here represented as X = alphanumeric character, A = letter, 0 = digit, and # = alphanumeric or special character (*, +, ?).
