Irish VAT number
The Irish VAT number is a unique identification number for legal entities in Ireland. The number consists of 10 or 11 characters, the first two being "IE", followed by a digit, then a letter, a digit, or a symbol, the next 5 being digits, and the last 1 or 2 being letters. The last character is a check character calculated using a specific algorithm.
This identifier follows a strict format, here represented as X = alphanumeric character, A = letter, 0 = digit, and # = alphanumeric or special character (*, +, ?).
